2D Taxidermy

2D Taxidermy is a series of mixed media illustrations. It is a simple premise, translating what is essentially a 3D animal head into a nearly flat drawing. It also gives me the freedom to incorporate textiles (which I love to do).

The series initially began as a commission to create a piece for the ECC Foundation Golf Tournament of 2017. I didn't know what to make and struggled with coming up with an idea, until I finally decided to just fall back upon my preconceived notions of golfers. I somehow concluded that golfers would enjoy mounted heads on their wall, a la country club style. This is the portable version of those posh statement pieces. No animals were harmed in the making of

this series.
